High school swimmers in Catoosa County took the pool at the Baylor School in Chattanooga on Wednesday for their first meet of the season as they faced Signal Mountain and the host Red Raiders.
The Heritage High School team of Hannah Smith, Rylee O'Donnell, Reagan Wingrove and Lexi Easley placed third in the girls' 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:07.02, while the team of Saulye Nichols, Emma Connelly, Emma Bradford and Maggie Grayson (2:08.12) placed fourth.
Easley, Wingrove, Nichols and Smith was third in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:53.07). O'Donnell, Bradford, Grayson and Connelly was fourth (1:59.10), while Sydney Wilson, Abigail Dodd, Samantha Stowers and Morgyn Easley placed sixth (2:10.36)
And in the 400-yard freestyle relay, Wilson, Stowers, Dodd and Morgyn Easley placed third (4:57.01), while Zoe Davis, Rilee Bailey, Emily Detre and Mara Daffron took fourth (6:17.06).
Individually, Nichols was fourth in the 200 freestyle (2:18.99) and third in the 500 freestyle (6:05.98). O'Donnell was fifth in the 200 individual medley (2:47.97) and eighth in the 100 freestyle (1:11.70) and Smith was fourth in the 50 freestyle (26.44) and third in the 100 butterfly (1:05.64).
Connelly was fifth in the 50 freestyle (27.86) and seventh in the 100 freestyle (1:01.05). Wingrove took sixth in the 50 freestyle (28.23) and third in the 100 breaststroke (1:18.12). Lexi Easley was fifth in the 100 freestyle (59.91) and fourth in the 100 backstroke (1:09.84), while Morgyn Easley was sixth in the 100 butterfly (1:12.31) and fifth in the 100 breaststroke (1:25.77).
Wilson was sixth in the 200 individual medley (2:56.55). Dodd placed fifth in the 100 backstroke (1:17.48), while Davis was seventh in the same event (1:41.40). Stowers was seventh in the 100 breaststroke (1:46.23) and McKenna Hardin of Ringgold was eighth in the 50 freestyle (38.90).
On the boys' side, the Heritage team of Jacob Stanley, Tim Grayson, Lance Marshall and Nikolas Pierson was third in the 400 freestyle relay (4:47.25), while Stanley, Marshall, Grayson and Alex Mixon was third in the 200 freestyle (2:06.14).
Individually, Stanley was third (25.20), Mixon was fifth (30.84) and Pierson was seventh (34.42) in the 50 freestyle. Stanley also took fifth in the 100 backstroke (1:15.80) and Mixon was fifth in the 100 freestyle (1:23.75). Marshall was fourth in both the 500 freestyle (6:17.86) and the 100 backstroke (1:11.90).
The next meet for the high school squad is Nov. 16 at 5 p.m. in Calhoun.
