Ridgeland junior second baseman Grayson “Cadillac” James gave a verbal commitment this past Wednesday to continue her softball career at Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus.

James had another solid season for the Lady Panthers, who won the Region 6-AAAA regular season title and advanced to the Class AAAA state tournament. She batted .307 with four doubles, a pair of triples and 11 RBIs. She scored 21 runs for the high-powered Ridgeland offense.

James announced the commitment on social media.

“I chose Georgia Southwestern because it felt like another home to me,” she explained. “The players seem to all be one big family. I really like Coach (Nicki) Levering’s coaching style and her vision for the program and I feel that I have a chance to make an impact on the program.”

Georgia Southwestern is an NCAA Division II school and a member of the Peach Belt Conference, along with Young Harris, North Georgia, Georgia College, Francis Marion, Lander University, Augusta University and Flagler College.
