The LFO Lady Warriors went 5-6 in the month of August, but they have found September to be a lot more to their liking.
The Red-and-White are 7-0 since the calendar flipped, having outscored their seven opponents by a combined score of 48-5.
The most recent five victories came at Chattanooga's Warner Park over the weekend as part of the SCORE International Invitational, hosted by Gordon Lee High School.
After wins over Georgia Military College Prep (2-0) and Armuchee (8-1) on Friday, LFO won three more games on Saturday.
LFO 14, St. Pius X 2
The Lady Warriors pounded out 18 hits in the opener, including a home run off the bat of Taylor Phillips, as LFO blew the game open with nine runs in the fourth inning.
Phillips, along with Morgan Ritchey and Kourtney Morrison had three hits apiece. Shaniyah Jones and Kyla Orr both had two hits and two RBIs, while Karson Bradford had two hits and drove in four.
Jennifer Coates got the win, allowing two earned runs on six hits in four innings. She finished with two strikeouts.
LFO 9, Social Circle 0
Haley Stahl picked up the win in the circle, giving up just one hit in five innings. The freshman threw just 48 pitches, 35 of which went for strikes.
Lyndsey Teague and Chelsey Lindsay each had two hits and three RBIs, while Keelie Mauk pitched in with a pair of RBIs.
LFO 3, LaFayette 2
The day's final game saw the Lady Warriors rally for solo runs in the bottom of the sixth and seventh to knock off Class AAAA's third-ranked team.
Teague, Bradford and Phillips each had RBIs, while Phillips had two of LFO's six hits. Morrison went all seven innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
Madi Ashley had the lone RBI for LaFayette. Madison Pettigrew went six innings, giving up two earned runs on five hits and five walks. She also finished with four strikeouts. Ashton Stalling threw a third of an inning in relief, giving up two walks and a hit.
LFO (12-6 overall, 4-0 in subregion play) will have a busy week, starting Monday at Ringgold. They will host Murray County in a doubleheader on Tuesday before North Murray comes to Chip Liner Field on Thursday. LFO will play in the Grayson tournament in Atlanta this upcoming weekend.
The first round of the Region 6-AAA playoffs start on Tuesday, Sept. 26.
