The LFO Lady Warriors began their final prep work before the start of next week's Region 6-AAA tournament on Friday with a pair of games in at a tournament hosted by Grayson High School in metro-Atlanta.
LFO began the night with a 5-4 loss to Class AAAAAAA Norcross. LFO led 3-2 going into the top of the sixth when the Blue Devils plated a run to tie it up. Norcross added two in the top of the seventh, while the Lady Warriors could only push across one run in their final at-bat.
Haley Stahl allowed 14 hits, but just two earned runs as LFO committed four errors behind her. She struck out two batters and walked just one.
Taylor Phillips stayed red-hot, even in defeat. The shortstop was 3-for-3 with a pair of double and three RBIs. Karson Bradford and Chelsey Lindsay both had two hits, while Shaniyah Jones was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
In the nightcap, ninth-ranked LFO (Class AAA) gave up a run in the top of the sixth and fell to third-ranked Eagles' Landing Christian (Class A Private), 1-0, in a six-inning, time-limit contest.
LFO managed just three hits, a double by Phillips and singles off the bat of Maddy Adkins and Kourtney Morrison.
Morrison suffered the loss in the circle, giving up just the one earned run on five hits, one walk and six strikeouts.
LFO will continue play in the tournament on Saturday.
