Down 4-0 headed into the bottom of the sixth inning on Tuesday, the LaFayette Lady Ramblers erupted for six runs and picked up a big 6-4 home victory over Heritage in a Region 6-AAAA contest.
Madison Pettigrew started in the circle for LaFayette (15-8, 8-4) and threw the first three innings, allowing three runs on four hits. She also went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Ashton Stalling pitched the final four innings and got the win, allowing one run on three hits.
Sisters Shelby and Sam Adkins each had big RBI-doubles in the sixth inning. Shyenne Youngblood had a double in the victory, while Madi Ashley picked up a single.
For Heritage (14-8, 5-5), Reagan Armour and Kaylie Frogge both went 2-for-3. Armour had two RBIs, while Frogge drove in one run. Madi Morris was 1-for-3 with an RBI, while Bailey Christol scored twice.
Rachel Gibson got the start and threw five innings, allowing four earned runs on one hit and four walks with seven strikeouts. Taelyn Bates threw the final inning, giving up two earned runs on four hits. She was saddled with the loss.
The Generals will play Thursday at Southeast Whitfield in a doubleheader, starting at 5 p.m. LaFayette's next game will be in the region tournament, which begins Monday at Heritage Point Park in Dalton.
