Oakwood Christian Eagles

The Oakwood Christian Eagles enjoyed a little Friday night lights, futbol-style as they put a cap on Senior Night with their biggest win in program history.

Seniors J.J. Lanham, John-Jacob McSpadden, Trevor Hobbs, D.J. Terry and Madi Phillips and their families were recognized before the match. Then the Navy-and-Gold went out and blistered the Hawks of Tennessee Christian Prep, 9-0.

Ryan Scarbrough scored twice for the Eagles, while individual tallies were netted by Terry, McSpadden, Tyler Epperson, Caleb Epperson, Noah Permenter, Andrew Phillips and Thomas Buckels.

Garrison Baggett and Connor Shankles combined for the shutout in goal.

"It's not about the score, but about how well our team played and executed the fundamentals of the game," head coach Tony Vona said. "It was truly a team effort. Everyone enjoyed minutes on the field and a big thank-you goes out to our fans."

The Eagles will look to keep things going on Monday as they play host to the junior varsity squad from CAYA in Collegedale. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
