The LaFayette Lady Ramblers won their home opener and improved to 2-0 on the season with a 2-1 victory over Armuchee on Thursday.

Bailey Tarvin netted the first goal of the match off an assist from Shelby Adkins in the first half.

Early in the second half, Megan Wilson knocked home a penalty kick after the Lady Indians were whistled for a handball in the box. Imani Cook was credited with the assist.

Railee Lynn had 10 saves in goal for the Lady Ramblers, while Caitlyn Watson was acknowledged for her defensive efforts.

Armuchee boys 2, LaFayette 1

The Ramblers outshot the Indians, 7-6, but found itself on the wrong end of the scoreboard when all was said and done.

Armuchee carried a 2-0 lead more than halfway into the second half, but Wes Ingram would find Julian Murray as the Ramblers cut the lead in half with 12 minutes left to play. LaFayette would keep up the pressure in the final minutes, but could not come up with equalizer.

Jett Harrison had four saves in the loss.

The Ramblers will be back in action at home on Tuesday versus Morris Innovative out of Dalton. There will be no girls' game as the Lady Tigers were unable to field a team this season.

Both teams will host Model on March 1.

Heritage girls 7, Dalton 3

In Boynton, the Lady Generals improved to 4-0-1 with a four-goal victory over the visiting Lady Catamounts.

Brianna Smotherman and Anna Boley each scored a pair of goals, while Alyssa Boley, Jillian Roberts and Lucy Hicks each had one goal. Anna Boley and Caylee Carpenter were each credited with two assists, while Allison Craft and Finley Brisendine had one apiece.

Both Heritage teams will be in action at home on Friday against North Murray in a pair of non-region matches. The girls' varsity match will begin at 5:30 p.m.
