The LaFayette High School rifle team traveled to Anniston, Ala. over the weekend to compete against other Army JROTC teams from the entire Southeast region of the country.
Despite being sick, junior Alyssa Kiser, finished Friday as the No. 2 shooter in the field and just two points out of the No. 1 spot. Meanwhile, Emma Sargeant made up ground on Saturday to finish in the No. 7 spot.
LaFayette’s team finished the event third overall with the top eight shooters advancing to the finals. Kiser finished fourth, while Sargeant ended up sixth.
Also shooting for the Ramblers was Andrew Carroll, Steven Thompson and Logan Massingill.
After the firing report was released from the Arizona Regionals, LaFayette was firmly in fourth place overall. Next Saturday, the final match will be held in Ohio.
Should the Ramblers stay in the top five, they will receive an invitation to compete in the Army JROTC Nationals at the prestigious Camp Perry Shooting Complex.
