Carlin Scott and Halie Thompson combined for a shutout on Thursday and the Chattanooga Valley Middle School softball team moved to 2-0 on the season with a 9-0 triumph over Rossville at City Park.

Scott started the game in the circle and pitched two innings while striking out five hitters. Thompson fanned four in her two innings of work, while the CVMS coaching staff praised catcher Sky Goble for her work behind the plate.

Six different Lady Eagles had hits in the win, while Ally Grace Thomas, Shelby Merritt and Kylie Collins each scored twice for CVMS.

Individual details for Rossville were not provided as of press time.

CVMS will play at Dade County Tuesday at 5 p.m., while Rossville will play on Thursday, Sept. 8, at Gordon Lee, starting at 4:30.
