The LaFayette Middle School Ramblers traveled to Whitfield County on Wednesday and used a big second half to beat the New Hope Kodiaks, 52-35.
LaFayette found itself tied at 14 after a low-scoring first half, but found their scoring touch in the final two quarters.
Jaylon Ramsey had a game-high 22 points to go with five rebounds, three steals, an assist and a block. Junior Barber added 16 points, two rebounds and one assist, while Aidan Hadaway finished with nine points, five boards and an assists.
Also contributing for the Ramblers was Cade Fisher (3 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists), Kobe Weaver (2 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist) and Gray Payton (1 rebound).
Down 25-23 at halftime and still trailing with less than two minutes remaining on Thursday, the Ramblers pulled away in the closing seconds to take the battle of unbeatens with Lakeview, 51-46.
Junior Barber connected on two free throws to knot the game and a Cade Fisher lay-up with 48 seconds to go put LaFayette in the lead for good.
Jaylon Ramsey had 18 points, six rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals, while Barber picked up 15 points, four rebounds, three assists and a steal. Aidan Hadaway scored eight points, collected six boards and had two assists.
Other standouts for the 4-0 Ramblers were Fisher (7 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals) and Grant Langford (3 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal).
Amari Burrett had 18 for Lakeview (3-1, 2-1), followed by Keenan Walker and Camron Lay with 10. Rizzo added six and Kirk finished with two.
