The Heritage Middle School Generals scored five runs in the top of the first inning at Dalton on Thursday and overcame five errors and a seventh-inning rally by the Cougars to win, 7-5, in a non-league game.

Nick Hanson went 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Preston Etter was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Tyler Ingram knocked in two runs, while Alex Mixon, Caden Snyder and Jeff Bates had one RBI each.

Ingram, one of four pitchers used by the Generals, ended up getting the win as the pitcher of record.

Heritage is scheduled to host county rival Ringgold today (Friday) at 4:30 p.m.
