Georgia Northwestern Bobcats

The road struggles for the Georgia Northwestern Bobcats continued in Covington, Ga. on Friday night as the Navy-and-Silver lost to the host Oxford Eagles, 77-48, on the first night of the Dennis Spruell Classic at historic Williams Gymnasium.

Georgia Northwestern (2-12), who had just seven players available in uniform, found itself tied at 17 with the Eagles with 12:25 to go in the opening half. Oxford would began to assert itself in the second part of the first half, but the Bobcats would go into the locker room still within striking distance at 41-29.

However, that would change once the second half began.

Oxford stormed out of the gates on a 25-2 run to begin the second half and pushed the lead to 66-31 with 10:30 remaining. The Bobcats would not make its first field goal of the second half until nine minutes were left in the game.

Kyle Brown had 16 points for the Eagles (7-9), followed by Ryan Kwong and Eric Lee with 12, while Seb Mosso added 10.

Tyler Phillips managed a 15-point, 11-rebound double-double for the Bobcats. Jay Wideman dropped in 11 points, while T.J. Langford and Daniel Parrish both picked up eight.

Georgia Northwestern will conclude the two-day tournament with a 2 p.m. game Saturday against the Georgia Highlands Diamonds.
