Some former local prep golfers had a solid tournament for the Dalton State Roadrunners in St. Augustine, Fla. earlier this week.

Senior All-American and former LaFayette High School state champion P.J. Shields tied for second overall at the Georgetown College Invitational at PGA World Village with a score of 143 (1-under par) for 36 holes. Shields had a 69 in his opening round and followed up with a 74.

Former Heritage golfer Sport Allmond (72-76) tied for 13th with teammate S.M. Lee at 148, while another ex-General, Ben Rebne (75-75), was two shots back at 150 and tied for 21st place.

Another senior, Chase Cole (Dade County), carded rounds of 79 and 76 and tied for 39th place. Cole was previously an All-American at Georgia Northwestern and had two top five finishes in the NJCAA Division III national tournament, including one individual runner-up finish.

The Roadrunners, currently ranked second in the NAIA, finished at 585 (9-over par) to place second behind Coastal Georgia (579).
