The LaFayette Ramblers braved the frigid temperatures and put up a solid score of 145 in a nine-hole match at the LaFayette Golf Course on Thursday. The Ramblers bested Cedartown by 28 strokes.
Gage Smith had a 35, followed by a 36 from both Tyler Jackson and Riley Grant. Carter Grant turned in a 38 to fill out the team score. Mason Cain ended up with a 40, while Scott Smith shot a 41.
Cedartown (173) had a low round of 40 from Jett Lewis. Tyler Tracy (43), Hayden Zebeau (44) and Nolan Holland (46) rounded out the team score for the Bulldogs.
LaFayette's JV squad also played in the match. Jon Durham (45), Kyle Moore (46), Josh Bettis (53) and Riley Mitchell (59) made up the Ramblers' total of 203.
When asked about his team's efforts in the early season match, LaFayette head coach Tom Langford summed up his feelings.
"It was really cold," he said.
The Ramblers will host the LaFayette Invitational (boys) Tournament on Saturday.
The Lady Ramblers also got the victory on Thursday, beating Cedartown and Ridgeland.
Hannah Bowman had a 50 for the Orange-and-Black, followed by a 51 from Maci Johnson and a 54 from Shelby Whittle to round out the 155.
No individual scores for Cedartown (169) were provided as of press time.
Ridgeland also played on Thursday, and finished with a 176. Christa Parrish fired a 51, while Lauren Cain had a 62. The Lady Panthers had a 63 filler score added to their total.
