The LaFayette Lady Ramblers fell behind in the first half on Tuesday and could never make up the deficit as they dropped their season-opener to Murray County, 62-45, at the Ridgeland Thanksgiving Tournament.
Freshman LaTyah Barber led the way with 23 points for the Lady Ramblers to go with eight rebounds and three blocks. Marquila Howell had 10 points and six rebounds, while Nicky Yancy had seven points and seven rebounds.
North Murray 64, LaFayette 29
On Wednesday, the Lady Ramblers stayed within striking distance in the first half, closing it out with a 10-4 run that pulled them to within 27-23 at intermission.
However, North Murray came out of the gates on fire from the floor on the offensive end, while a full-court press completely dismantled any comeback attempt LaFayette had in mind.
S.J. Oxford had a team-high eight points, followed by Barber with seven and Howell with six.
LaFayette (0-2) will be back in action on Nov. 28 with their Region 6-AAAA opener at Pickens.
