The LaFayette Lady Ramblers opened play in the Chattooga Christmas Tournament Wednesday night against the host Lady Indians at Tribe Pride Arena in Summerville.
Chattooga got eight points each from Faith Ann Foster and Taylor Melton in the first quarter and went on to a 59-41 victory.
The Lady Indians led 18-7 after the first period, although LaFayette would stay within striking distance. They cut Chattooga's lead to single digits with less than two minutes to go before halftime. However, the Lady Indians would make one final run to take a 32-18 lead into the break.
LaFayette would not get any closer than 14 points in the second half as Chattooga pulled away in the final quarter to score the victory.
Foster paced all scorers with 21 points. Ziyah Underwood added 14 in the victory, while Melton picked up 12 points.
LaTyah Barber had 10 points to lead the Lady Ramblers before fouling out in the fourth quarter. Nicky Yancy and Marquila Howell had eight points apiece in the loss.
LaFayette (1-9) will battle in the consolation bracket tomorrow at 8:30 p.m. at Chattooga's War Lodge gym. They were scheduled to face either Cedartown or Rockmart, but that opponent was unknown as of press time.
