The LaFayette Ramblers ended the 2017 season on a positive note Friday night, thumping winless Gilmer, 42-6, at Jack King Stadium.
LaFayette (3-7, 1-5) led 33-6 at the break. Dakota Cathey got the ball rolling with a 10-yard TD run in the opening quarter, while Colton Lane added a 10-yard TD run of his own. The Ramblers would later add a safety later in the quarter to make it 16-0.
Seventeen more points would come in the second quarter. Cathey scored from seven yards out and quarterback Ty Fisher snuck in from two yards out. Max Studdard also booted a 29-yard field goal.
Studdard added a 43-yard field goal in the third quarter, while LaFayette's scoring was capped in the fourth on a 7-yard run by Alan Hun.
LaFayette accounted for 336 of their 350 yards on the ground. Lane had a huge night with 194 yards on 19 carries. Cathey had 70 yards on 10 rushes, while Landon Rayburn carried once for 42 yards.
