The Heritage Generals scored 21 points in each of the first two quarters and bounced back from last week's loss to Ridgeland with a 49-13 victory at LaFayette on Friday.
Quarterback Blake Bryan threw three first-half TD passes, one each to Ryan Carter, Luke Grant and Carson Sherrill, while Carter and Grant each scored on a punt return. Jeffery Curtis tacked on a rushing touchdown for the Generals, who rested their starters in the second half after opening up a 42-0 halftime lead.
Colton Lane led the Ramblers with 15 carries for 108 yards, including a 58-yarder, and scored both of his team's touchdowns. Dakota Cathey added 31 yards on seven rushing attempts, while quarterback Ty Fisher was 3-for-5 through the air - all to Andrew Pendergrass - for 60 yards.
Heritage (8-1 overall, 4-1 in Region 6-AAAA) will be off this Friday night before hosting Pickens on Nov. 3 in a game that could sew up a home state playoff game for the first time in the program's history.
LaFayette (2-6, 0-4) will travel to Jasper to face Pickens this coming Friday before returning home to close out the 2017 against still-winless Gilmer.
