A tough season came to a close for the Gordon Lee Trojans on Friday with a 45-26 loss at St. Francis in a Region 6-A crossover game.
The Trojans (2-8) had one of their best offensive outputs of the year, racking up 456 total yards – 236 through the air and 220 on the ground.
It was a big night for senior quarterback Austin Thompson, who completed 12-of-24 passes for 236 yards. He had one score through the air, though he was picked off twice, and had 78 yards rushing on 10 carries with two more touchdowns.
Thompson’s TD pass came at the 8:28 mark of the second quarter, a 57-yard strike to Hunter Hodson that temporarily cut the Knights’ lead to 14-7. But St. Francis (4-6) would add two more touchdowns in the second quarter to take a 28-7 lead into the locker room.
Braden Jarvis tacked on a 4-yard TD run three minutes into the third quarter and Thompson added a 5-yard run with six minutes left in the period. Thompson would score Gordon Lee’s final points on a 6-yard run with 3:40 left in the game.
Jarvis had 18 carries for 135 yards and four catches for 56 yards in his final prep game, while Hodson caught four passes for 115 yards.
