CROSS COUNTRY: Gracie O’Neal places third in Foot Locker South Regional race

The high school cross country season may be over in Georgia, but Gordon Lee’s Gracie O’Neal hasn’t put her running shoes away just yet.

The 2017 GHSA Class A Public School state champion took part in the 39th Foot Locker Cross Country Championships in Charlotte, N.C. this past Saturday and finished third overall in the South Region Sophomore Girls’ race.

O’Neal clocked in at 18:53 on the 5K course, finishing four seconds behind Ashlyn Little of Waynesburg, Ky. and 30 seconds in back of winner Jonna Strange of Stateville, N.C.

A total of 91 runners from North Carolina, Kentucky, Georgia, Virginia, Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas competed in the race.
