The Gordon Lee High School boys' and girls' cross country teams left the Darlington School on Thursday with area titles for the second straight season.
Gordon Lee's boys won the Area Public School title with 25 points, followed by Mt. Zion-Carroll (73), Drew Charter (80), Atlanta Classical Academy (97), Trion (105) and Bowdon (135).
All seven Gordon Lee runners placed in the top 15. Jasper Wilson won with a time of 17:13. Ian Goodwin (17:42) was second, while Jake Lee (18:27) gave the Trojans a 1-2-3 finish. Wilson was second overall among all runners, both public and private, while Goodwin was third overall in the combined race.
Jake Wright (20:07) placed 10th. Cole Collins (20:27) was 11th, while Michael Hubona (20:56) and Beau Barrett (21:11) placed 14th and 15th, respectively. Wright, Collins and Barrett's times were all personal bests.
On the girls' side, Gracie O'Neal took the lead in the first 100 yards and was never threatened as she ran to victory in 19:20, a full 36 seconds ahead of the next closest runner overall and nearly 3:30 ahead of the second place runner in the Public School ranks.
Kate Gilliam was third in the Public School standings with a time of 23:16. Grayson Alexander (23:46) took fifth, followed by Riley Cash (24:06) in seventh, Taylor McAllister (24:09) in eighth, Emma Cate Dendy (24:42) in 13th and Kayelee Bell (24:49) in 14th. Bell's time was a new personal best.
More personal bests were also set in the junior varsity races as Gordon Lee's teams pulled the sweep.
On the boys' side, Braxton Ledford (20:13) was first. Tanner Wilson (20:46) was second and Cody McCutcheon (20:54) was third with a new personal record. Hunter Hartman (22:03) was fourth, Erik Olofsson (22:11) was fifth, Jagger Martin (23:49) was seventh and Alex Stone (23:51) placed eighth. Olofsson also set a new personal mark.
Chanler Hysell was the top girls' finisher in the JV race with a time of 25:53, Michaela Russell (26:31) was second and Drew Presnell (27:57) was fourth with a personal best. The rest of the Lady Trojans included Lexi Tennant (32:36) in 11th place and Makenzie Bailey (33:36) in 12th.
The Class A Public School State Meet is next Saturday, Nov. 4, in Carrollton.
