Competition cheerleading squads from the Catoosa-Walker County area will head to Columbus next weekend to compete for state championships.
Defending Class A Public School state champion Gordon Lee earned the No. 1 seed following state sectionals at Ola High School on Saturday. They finished one spot ahead of Trion in the standings. The Class A Public School state finals will be held on Friday.
LFO finished as the Region 6-AAA runners-up behind Adairsville, while Murray County and Calhoun took third and fourth. Ringgold placed eighth.
And in Region 6-AAAA, Heritage made it back-to-back region titles with Gilmer, LaFayette, Northwest Whitfield and Ridgeland rounding out the top five.
All teams in Georgia will compete in the state competition in Columbus for the first time this upcoming weekend.
