The LFO Warriors used a big third quarter to build a cushion and take down rival Ridgeland, 61-52, on the first night of the Sonoraville Christmas Tournament on Thursday.
After an entertaining first half which saw neither team enjoy more than a five-point lead, the Red-and-White stormed out of the gates after the break.
They opened the third quarter on a 12-2 run and never looked back, outscoring the Panthers in the third, 25-8. Ruddy Ware and Patryk Gilbert both hit for nine points in the quarter as the Warriors built a 55-33 lead by the end of the period.
Ridgeland would attempt to rally in the fourth, but it was too little too late as the Warriors went on to the victory.
Ware finished with 21 points. Gilbert added 18, while Andrew Brock added eight points with a pair of 3-pointers.
Eric Byrd had a team-high 16 points for Ridgeland. Jordan Tucker added 10 points, while Ethan Moyer had nine points on three 3-pointers. Ridgeland was playing without starters Markeith Montgomery and Fred Norman, who were playing in an all-star football game Atlanta.
LFO (5-7 overall) will play again on Friday against Section (Ala.) at 4:30 p.m., while Ridgeland (3-7) will play Sonoraville at 7:30 to conclude the event.
