The Gordon Lee Trojans have already beaten a Class 2A team and own a pair of victories over a Class 3A team already this season.
They continued their climb up the ladder on Friday night.
Facing local Class 4A rival Heritage at home on Friday, the Trojans spotted the Generals a 15-2 lead after one quarter of play before storming back to claim a 57-44 win and improving to 4-0 on the young season.
Gordon Lee did most of its damage in the second and third quarters, outscoring Heritage by a combined 36-14.
Jacob Dyer had a team-high 15 points for the Trojans, including going 6-of-8 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter to help ice the victory. Kannen Derryberry and Zander Smith both chipped in with 10 points.
Cole Wilcox had 15 points to lead the Generals. Walker Spruiell added nine points on three 3-pointers and Joel Martin finished with six.
The Generals dropped to 3-2 overall with the loss.
Heritage girls 58, Gordon Lee 37
The Lady Generals put their foot on the accelerator early, outscoring the Lady Trojans 20-8 in the first quarter. They went on to open up a 31-14 lead at intermission en route to the win.
Emily Wiley had 15 points and added 11 rebounds to complete the double-double. Ansley Bice had 14 points and assisted on six more buckets. Ariana Camp had nine points and nine rebounds, while Sarah Bandy and Reagan Armour had six points apiece.
Individual scoring for the Lady Trojans had not been provided as of press time.
Gordon Lee will open Region 6-A play at home against Darlington on Tuesday, while Heritage will play host to LaFayette in Region 6-AAAA action.
The two schools will meet in Boynton for the rematches on Dec. 16.
