The Ringgold Lady Tigers will be the No. 3 seed from Region 6-AAA North in the upcoming region tournament after a 53-37 win over Murray County on Senior Night in Ringgold on Friday.
After a 10-10 opening quarter, Ringgold (12-12 overall) took control of the game by outscoring the Lady Indians 32-11 over the next two periods.
Shelby Cole had a team-high 12 points for the Lady Tigers, while Lauren Terrell and Kaylee Womack added eight each. Riley Nayadley had seven points and eight rebounds. Sydney Pittman finished with seven points, seven assists and six steals and Rachel Akers added six points and six boards.
The boys’ game turned out to be a thriller that saw the Tigers prevail, 65-62, on a 3-pointer by Cade Nayadley with three seconds left in overtime.
Ringgold will enter the Region 6-AAA tournament with a 19-5 overall record. As the No. 1 seed from the North subregion, they have already earned a spot in the region tournament semifinals and a berth in the Class AAA state playoffs.
Logan Hullender led the way with 16 points to go with five rebounds and three steals. Nate Nation added 13 points and five rebounds, while Ammon Murphy had 12 points and six boards.
Also contributing in the win was Corey Johnson with eight points and six rebounds and Chandler Chastain with eight points, four assists and three steals.
