The Ringgold Tigers moved on to the semifinals of the Whitwell Christmas Tournament with a 58-33 victory over Dresden (Tenn.) on Thursday night.
Logan Hullender led the way with 18 points for Ringgold. Cade Nayadley had 14, while Ammon Murphy had 11. Corey Johnson chipped in with nine rebounds in the victory.
The Tigers (9-2 overall) will take on the Pioneers of East Ridge Friday night at 7:30 p.m. Central time.
The Lady Tigers fell to the consolation brackets in Whitwell after a 70-65 loss to the Red Raiders of Coffee County (Tenn.) earlier on Thursday.
Ringgold fell behind 18-6 after the first quarter and trailed 27-23 at halftime. Coffee County opened up a 49-37 lead going into the fourth, and although Ringgold scored 23 points in the final period, it wasn't enough in the end.
Bella Vinson had 23 points for the Red Raiders.
Rachel Akers scored nine of her 15 points in the fourth quarter and she also finished with nine rebounds for Ringgold. Sydney Pittman had 14 points to go with six assists and three steals. Kaylee Womack ended the night with 13 points, while Lauren Terrell finished with eight points.
Ringgold (6-6) will play at 12 noon Central time on Friday against either Sequatchie County or Fairview Christian.
