The Oakwood Christian Lady Eagles got a measure of revenge for a four-point loss earlier in the season by beating Tennessee Christian Prep, 52-46, in Chickamauga on Thursday.
Annika Green had another big night with 20 points, 14 rebounds, three blocks and three steals. Grayson Broadrick added a dozen points. Lily Green had eight points and three steals, while Mary Ownby had six points and four steals. Four points from Raleigh Suits and two from Madi Phillips rounded out the scoring as Lady Eagles improved to 12-5 overall.
In the nightcap, the Eagles trailed by 15 points after the first quarter, by 21 points at halftime and they were down 49-29 to begin the fourth quarter against the Hawks.
But Oakwood would make a huge rally in the fourth quarter as they cut the deficit down to four. However, the gap was just too much to overcome as they fell 62-56. It was a valiant effort by the Eagles (3-14), who lost by 49 points in the teams' first meeting.
John Jacob McSpadden scored 15 of his 20 points in the fourth to lead the comeback attempt. Woody Hass had 11 points, followed by Tyler Epperson with seven.
Garrison Baggett had six points. Philip Davis and Andrew Phillips each had three, while D.J. Terry, Trevor Hobbs and Jacob Wellwood each finished with two.
Oakwood will travel to Chattanooga on Saturday to face the Chattanooga Patriots. The games will be played at Morris Hill Baptist Church, starting at 5 p.m.
