The Oakwood Christian Lady Eagles reached double-digit wins on the season after posting a 47-28 win at home over Maryville Christian on Friday night.
The game was close in the first quarter as OCA (10-3) held a slim 15-10 lead after the first eight minutes of action. However, the Lady Eagles cranked up the defense in the second quarter, limiting Maryville Christian to just two points as they built a 26-12 lead at intermission.
They would stretch out the lead even more in the second half as they rolled to the victory.
Annika Green had a game-high 19 points for the Lady Eagles and added 20 rebounds, seven blocks and three assists to complete a monster night. Mary Ownby added eight points and 10 boards.
Lily Green had six points and five rebounds. Madi Phillips and Grayson Broderick dropped in five points each. Broadrick also had four assists, while Lexie Asher added four points and eight rebounds.
Maryville Christian boys 71, Oakwood Christian 51
The visiting Eagles from Tennessee got a stern test from the home team on Friday, but took control for good late in the third quarter and pulled away for the win.
A 9-0 first-quarter run helped pull OCA (2-11) even at 16 apiece after the opening stanza. However, MCS would forge a 33-24 lead at intermission and never looked back as they scored the conference win.
Garrison Baggett and Tyler Epperson had 10 points each for Oakwood, while eight of Epperson's points came at the free throw line. Woody Hass finished with nine points and Cory Taylor dropped in seven points.
Phillip Davis added six points, followed by J.J. Lanham with five and Trevor Hobbs and Andrew Phillips with two each.
The Lady Eagles will play at CAYA at 7:30 p.m. on Monday and both OCA teams will be in action at Calvary Christian on Tuesday, starting at 6.
