The Oakwood Christian Eagles' bid for a third straight victory came up just two points short on Friday night as they dropped a 55-53 decision at Cleveland Christian in Tennessee.
It was a tight game throughout. The score was deadlocked at 17 after the first quarter before Oakwood (5-15) forged a 27-26 lead at the break.
The hosts would come back to take a 38-36 lead into the fourth. The Eagles would answer and regain as much as an eight-point lead in the final period, but were unable to hold on as they dropped the road decision.
Garrison Baggett led the Eagles with 14 points, followed by D.J. Terry would had a pair of 3-pointers as part of his 10 points. John Jacob McSpadden ended the night with nine and Woody Hass with eight, followed by Andrew Phillips and J.J. Lanham with four each. Cory Taylor rounded out the scoring with two.
Both Oakwood teams will close out the regular season on Tuesday with games at Mountain View Christian.
