The last time the LaFayette Ramblers and Northwest Bruins met on the hardwood was in early February as the Bruins celebrated a 53-51 victory over the Ramblers in the Region 6-AAAA championship game at Southeast Whitfield.
On Friday night, nearly 10 months later, LaFayette got a measure of revenge.
Tied at 28 at the break, the Ramblers took control in the second half to pull out a 63-52 win and get a leg up on the Bruins in the early portion of the region standings.
LaFayette (3-0, 2-0) would outscore Northwest 19-12 in the third quarter before winning the final period, 21-12.
Alex Kelehear and Jon Morgan once again were the big guns for the Orange-and-Black. Kelehear had 21 points, including two 3-pointers and a 7-for-8 performance at the free throw line. Meanwhile, Morgan had two threes and went 5-of-7 at the charity stripe to finish with 19 points. Dee Southern scored seven of his eight points in the second half.
Barrett Upton had 13 for the Bruins (1-3, 0-1), while Chris Cunningham and Luke Shiflett - seeing his first action since suffering an ankle injury during football season - both had 12 points.
Northwest Whitfield's Lady Bruins won the girls' matchup, but details had not been reported as of press time.
LaFayette will face another pair of stern tests on Tuesday when they travel to Boynton to face Heritage.
