Gordon Lee Trojans

The Gordon Lee Trojans are not scheduled to play Southeast Whitfield again this season.

And it's doubtful that you will hear the Raiders complaining about it.
Trojan gunner Kannen Derryberry blistered the nets for 32 points, including eight three-pointers, as Gordon Lee bounced back from Friday night's loss with a 56-41 victory on Day 2 of the Trion Christmas Tournament.
Both teams played tough defense in the first half with the Raiders taking a narrow 21-20 lead into the locker room. But Gordon Lee (7-4) would come out of the gates with an 11-3 run in the first four minutes of the third quarter to go up by 7.
Southeast answered and cut the Trojans' lead down to one. However, Derryberry would hit his sixth 3-pointer at the buzzer to put the Trojans up 34-30 as the fourth quarter was set to begin.
Derryberry and Hayden Murphy would both sink two from long distance in the fourth quarter as Gordon Lee pulled away for the victory. Derryberry would finish the game with two 3-point baskets in each of the four quarters.
Wiley Hemming had nine points in the win, while Murphy scored all six of his points in the fourth.
Jarrod Wright had 10 points to lead the way for Southeast.

The Lady Trojans' trademark pressure defense was on display all game long on Saturday as they overwhelmed the Lady Raiders on the final day of the Trion Christmas Tournament.

Gracey Kruse and Abby Dalton both hit three-pointers in the first quarter, while solid passing and hustle on the offensive boards by the entire team allowed the Lady Trojans to take a 27-8 lead into the locker room.

It was more of the same in the second half as head coach Kevin McElhaney started turning to his bench before the end of the third quarter.
Dalton connected on three 3-pointers and finished with 13 points for Gordon Lee (5-6). Gracie O'Neal joined Kruse with nine points each, followed by Sam Belue with eight and Katherine Grace McElhaney with seven.
McKenna Lentych had nine points for the Lady Raiders.
Gordon Lee will be at home on Tuesday against Ringgold with the girls' tip-off slated for 4 p.m., followed by the boys' contest.
