Tied 8-8 going into the bottom of the sixth inning, the Ringgold Tigers erupted for seven runs and and picked up a 15-8 non-region home win over the Class 5A Rome Wolves Wednesday night at Bill Womack Field.
Ty Jones and Daulton Schley each had three hits and three RBIs in the win, while Casey Pate and Andre Tarver also had three hits apiece. Tarver had two doubles and drove in two runs, while Pate also recorded an RBI.
Nathan Camp struck out five batters in two hitless innings of relief to get the win as the Tigers moved to 7-4 on the season. The future Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajun also added a first-inning solo homer as one of his two hits.
Andrew Ghormley got the start for the Blue-and-White, but was replaced after 2.1 innings. He finished with two strikeouts. Freshman Austin McMahan pitched the next 2.2 innings before turning things over to Camp.
Both teams also committed six errors each in the game.
The two teams will meet again Thursday at Rome. First pitch is slated for 5:55 p.m.
