The LaFayette Ramblers are based in south Walker County, but Whitfield County is quickly becoming their new favorite place to play.
After a 4-3, 10-inning win at Coahulla Creek this past Friday, the Ramblers headed to Southeast Whitfield on Tuesday and picked up an 8-4 victory over the Raiders.
LaFayette's second straight victory moved them to 2-8 overall and 1-0 in Region 6-AAAA play. The Ramblers pounded out a season-high 12 hits, including five players with two hits, as they broke an early 2-2 tie with four runs in the top of the second.
Brady Anderson had two doubles and two RBIs, while Blake Guffey had a double as one of his two hits and drove in three. Blake Mann, Ethan Stephenson and A.J. Buck also had two hits apiece. Stephenson scored twice and Buck picked up an RBI.
Dylan Deering also had an RBI, while Andrew Pendergrass and Trent Currie each collected two stolen bases.
Buck went 6.1 innings to get the win, allowing four runs – two earned – on eight hits with four walks with four strikeouts. Levi Pettigrew closed it out.
LaFayette will host Southeast in a doubleheader on Friday to close out the three-game series. Friday's opener will start at 5:30 p.m.
