The Heritage Generals finally got in the win column for the first time this season on Saturday, but still had to settle for a split as they went 1-1 in a home doubleheader.
Heritage 7, Coahulla Creek 3
The Colts took a 2-0 lead with two runs in the top of the fourth inning, but Heritage exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take the lead for good.
An RBI-double by Blake Bryan proved to be the go-ahead run. Bryan finished with a pair of doubles. Lance Dockery was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Luke Grant also had two hits, while Johnathan Hickman, Cole Wilcox and Alex Coulter each knocked in one run.
Dakota Bandy started the game and threw the first four innings. He gave up just two runs on one hit with four walks and five strikeouts. Nick Hanson threw two innings of two-hit ball in relief and picked up the win, while Cade Kiniry threw the last inning for the Generals.
Carrollton 8, Heritage 6
The Trojans put up five runs in the top of the first inning against Hickman, who started for the home team. Carrollton took a 7-1 lead into the bottom of the third inning when Heritage began its comeback.
The Generals scored three runs in the third inning and added solo runs in the fourth and sixth to cut the gap to 7-6. But Carrollton would tack on one final insurance run in the top of the seventh and held off the Generals in their final at-bat.
Heritage finished with 12 hits, three off the bat of Grant. Wilcox had two hits and two RBIs. Dockery had two hits, including a solo home run - his second of the year - in the third inning. Hickman also had two hits, while Brody Campbell had a double and two RBIs. Bryan also had a double for Heritage, who hurt itself with five errors.
Hickman went five innings on the hill, allowing seven runs on four hits and a walk with three strikeouts. Grant pitched the last two innings.
The Generals (1-5) will play a road game at Dalton on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. before hosting Ringgold on Friday in a rematch of their game from yesterday. Ringgold won that matchup, 2-1.
