A Rossville woman was arrested at McDonald's in Fort Oglethorpe after she allegedly threw drinks at employees and hit a woman with a door following a blowup over cold food, police say.
According to the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department:
Ashley Michelle Hutcheson, 32, of Cooper Street, was arrested Monday, Oct. 2, on charges of battery, disorderly conduct and suspended registration.
The alleged incident occurred just before 6 p.m. on Oct. 2 and involved employees calling police, claiming Hutcheson was yelling, cursing, and throwing items.
When officers arrived, an employee explained that Hutcheson began arguing with staff over her food being cold and subsequently threw drinks at the staff behind the counter before storming out.
The encounter escalated when a female employee attempted to follow Hutcheson to the parking lot in order to get her vehicle's tag information.
A female employee "followed the offender outside the door in an attempt to get the tag number," Officer Garin Goddard said. "The offender then pushed the glass door causing the (employee) to be struck by the door and pinned her against the door frame."
The employee was able to get the tag number before Hutcheson left the scene, and when Goddard ran the information, the vehicle came back as having a suspended registration.
Officers reviewed the store's video footage, which did show Hutcheson throwing the drinks and pushing the door back on the employee.
Shortly after the scuffle, Hutcheson's husband arrived at the scene after she had notified him of the situation. He was able to convince her to come back to the restaurant and discuss the matter with police.
Hutcheson admitted to throwing the drinks at the employees, but claimed the incident was instigated by an employee jerking the bag out of her hand when she complained about the food being cold.
