A Rossville man was arrested in Catoosa County, 10 days after he allegedly forced his way into his estranged wife's apartment with a gun and threatened to kill her in front of the couple's three children.

According to the Catoosa County Sheriff's Department:

Kevin Lamont Evans, 30, of 776 West Stateline Road in Rossville, was arrested Sept. 27 on charges of criminal trespassing and aggravated assault.

Evans was released from jail on bond the following day.

The alleged incident occurred on Sept. 17 at the Oglethorpe Ridge Apartments off Cloud Springs Road.

According to Sgt. Patrick Stooksbury, the victim in the case said Evans was dropping his three children off when things turned violent.

"The victim said he (Evans) came in the home without permission," Stooksbury said. "She was in her bedroom with the door locked and then he kicked the door open."

The woman claimed that when she told Evans she was going to call for help, he pulled out a handgun and threatened to kill her.

Evans fled the scene before police arrived, but officers did find that the victim's bedroom door had indeed been damaged.

Ten days later, on Sept. 27, sheriff's deputies attempted to arrest Evans on the warrants from Fort Oglethorpe, but he wasn't home.

Evans ultimately went to the Sheriff's Office later that evening and turned himself in.
