We would like to thank all of you who helped with the Memorial Day flags on Monday, May 23. It is a breathtaking sight when the wind is blowing and the flag are flying straight out.
We also want to say a special thanks to Domino’s Pizza for providing pizzas to the volunteers afterward. There were a lot of children involved and this was a great way to finish the day! Also, the Kiwanis Club provided sausage biscuits and coffee early that morning when we first got started. Some of the Kiwanis members helped the day we put out the flagpoles and also helped raise the flags on Monday.
The crosses and flags will come down on Monday, June 6,at 8 a.m. provided there has been no overnight rain and the flags are dry. We certainly could use your help during this. There are almost 1,400 flags and crosses this year, so it is a very large job getting them taken down and put away.
A big thanks to retired mayor Joe Barger and Gilbert Childers who plan all this and set everything in order.
