Carolyn Jeanette Bennett Bailey, 70, Ringgold, Ga.

Carolyn Jeanette Bennett Bailey, 70, of Ringgold, Georgia, passed away Monday, December 25, 2017 at her residence.

A lifelong resident of the North Georgia area, she was a former employee of Shaw Industries where she worked for over 20 years and was of the Baptist faith.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Howard "Hub" William and Josie Pauline Lunsford Bennett; two sisters, Jean Berry and Catherine Yell; and two brothers, George Bennett and Johnny Bennett.

She is survived by four children, Roy Dale (Joy) Cope of Chattanooga, TN., Charles Howard (Maricar) Cope of Martin, GA., Robert (Stacey) Cope of Ringgold, GA., and Karen Annette (Chad) Miller of Chattanooga, TN.; one brother, Willis Bennett of Ringgold, GA.; nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services: 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 30, 2017 in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Lisa Daugherty officiating.

Interment: Anderson Memorial Gardens.

Visitation: Thursday from 4-8 P.M., Friday 9 A.M.-8 P.M. and Saturday 9 A.M. until funeral time at the funeral home.

Norma Jean Walker Thomas, 79, Rossville, Ga.

Norma Jean Walker Thomas, 79, of Rossville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at her residence.

Ms. Thomas was born in Dade County Georgia on June 18, 1938 to the late Clarence D. and Bonnie Marie Walker and has resided in the Rossville area for many years. She worked many years as a bookkeeper with Pete’s Gemstones traveling and selling jewelry. She enjoyed sewing, crafts and watching wrestling.

In addition to her parents, her five brothers also preceded her in death.

Survivors include her sons, Robert (Sharon) Cluck, Barry Cluck and Tim (Carol) Cluck, eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two sisters, Stella Belk and Charlotte (Johnny) Smith, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services: 2:00 PM on Friday, December 29, 2017 in the South Crest Chapel. Interment will follow at Old Lookout Cemetery.

Larry Edward Wilson, 72, Ringgold, Ga.

Larry Edward Wilson, 72, of Ringgold, Georgia, passed away Monday December 25, 2017 at his residence.

A lifelong resident of the Ringgold area, he was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served during the Vietnam War, was an employee of Catoosa County Road Department where he worked for 18 years and was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Huston and Verna McSpadden Wilson; and great granddaughter, Lilly Milholland.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Peggy Stone Wilson of Ringgold, GA.; two children, Gerald (Merona) Wilson of Ringgold, GA., and Kimberly Thomas of Ringgold, GA.; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral services: 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 28, 2017 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Franky Ridley, Cody Wilson and Robert Bates officiating.

Interment: Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Visitation: 5-8 P.M. Wednesday and 9 A.M. until funeral time Thursday at the funeral home.

John Benjamin Sargent, 68, Chattanooga, Tenn.

John Benjamin Sargent, 68 of Chattanooga, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2017.

John had worked as a Truck Driver for most of his life and retired from Lesco in 2013 after more than 10 years of service. He loved working with his hands, doing carpentry, wood work and more, and if others couldn’t do it, John could. Above all he was a True Man of Faith who loved The Lord with all his heart and his love for people and his generosity & willingness to help others will never be matched. He was a loving and devoted brother, husband, father and grandfather who will be truly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lovie Sargent; infant son, Andrew Paul Sargent and lifelong friend, Coy Williams.

Survivors include his loving wife, Glenda Everhart Sargent of Chattanooga, TN; children, Timothy Joel Sargent of Chattanooga, TN, Charity & (A.C.) Hanekom of Washington State and LeBron & (Renee) Sartin of Cohutta, GA; brother, Frankie Sargent of Rossville, GA; 4 sisters, Jimmie Faye Dodson and Wendy Raines both of Fort Oglethorpe, GA, Wanda & (Butch) Hendershot of Red Bank, TN and Maxine Malarkey of South Pittsburg, TN; 4 grandchildren, Terent, Kayden, Destiny and Miranda; 2 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family & friends.

Celebration of Life service: 3:00 p.m. Thursday, December 28, 2017 in the Funeral Home Parlor with Bro. Jim Rushing officiating.

Robert Eugene Chambers, 73 of Fort Oglethorpe, passed away Monday, December 25, 2017.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Goldie Mae Grout; father, Robert Anderson Chambers; Loving wife of 40 years, Peggy Ann Chambers; sisters, Margie Long, Shirley Middleton; and brother Richard Chambers.

Survivors include his daughters, Rita (Barry Dover) McDonald, Sherry (Lonnie) Watkins, April (Mike) O’Shields; son, Donald (Linda) Chambers; sisters, Rosemary Bowen, Barbara Fairweather, Charles Chambers, Joe Chambers; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
