Susan Kaye (Shafer) Westmoreland, 76, of Chattanooga, Tennessee passed away Saturday, August 19, 2017.
Susan was born in Upper Sandusky, Ohio on November 27, 1940 to the late, Gordon K. & Loraine L. Shafer and was of the Christian faith. After growing up in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, she graduated from high school and then went on to secretary school, before going to work for the CIA. She then served her remaining career field as a Paralegal for many years and was also an active member of the Tennessee Paralegal Association. Susan loved doing crossword puzzles, working outside in her yard, going to movies, plays and story teller events. She adored traveling with friends & family, watching old movies, sitcoms and going to museums. She worked on the committee of the East Ridge Revitalization and always loved to try new foods with the exception of southern morning gravy. She truly lived life to the fullest and laughed at everything, even if others may not have seen the humor in it. She was also preceded in death by her brother David L. Shafer (Mary).
Survivors include her three children, Steve & (Jamie) Westmoreland, Lori & (Kent) Bledsoe and Kim & (Mickey) King; brother & sister-in-law, James (Ruth) Shafer; 5 grandchildren, Heather Howard, Zach Underhill, Kenny Westmoreland, Justin Westmoreland and Jacob Westmoreland and eight great-grandchildren.
Per her request a private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Jerry Calvin Johnson, 69, Ringgold
Jerry Calvin Johnson, 69, of Ringgold, went home to be with the Lord, Monday August 21, 2017.
He was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army, and a Member of Ringgold Church of God. He loved fishing, Blues, and playing his bass at church. He also loved the World of Wrestling and was a referee for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ottis and Willie Christine Johnson; sister Vicki Marie Miller, brother, Jerry Johnson.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Terri Dietz Johnson; son, Shane Vaughn; two children from a previous marriage, Jennifer (Eric) Godsy and Jerry Johnson; sisters, Linda (David) King, Janet Bailey, Sue Davis, and Gloria (Hyland) McCarty; granddaughter and caregiver, Draven (Dylan) Hoffmann; 10 other grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; special friends, Jeff and Cindy England.
Funeral services: 11:30 AM Thursday August 24, 2017 at Ringgold Church of God with Pastor Carroll Allen officiating.
Visitation: Thursday from 10:00 – 11:30 AM.
Burial: Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Eloise Pierce, 94, Ringgold
Eloise Pierce, 94, of Ringgold, died Tuesday, August 22, 2017 in a local health care facility.
She was the widow of the late Thomas Oran Pierce, and was of the Baptist Faith.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by children: Edith Pierce and Danny Pierce.
She is survived by her sons: Ronnie Pierce, Rossville, David Pierce, Dunlap, and Stephen Waters, Ringgold; and daughters: Helen Porter, Doris Kittle, and Sue Barnes, all of Ringgold, and Debbie Shirley, Dayton, TN, and Martha Johnson, Chattanooga; and two sisters: Agnes Cox, Rock Spring, and LouRena Ross, Dalton.
