Martha Lee Watkins Daniel, 77, Chatsworth, Ga.

Martha Lee Watkins Daniel, 77, of Chatsworth, Georgia passed away Saturday, October 14, 2017.

A Native of Ringgold, Georgia, Martha has lived in the Chatsworth area for the past 25 years. She was a former employee of Shaw Industries where she worked for 10 years and was of the Baptist faith.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Hazel Shook Watkins.

She is survived by three sons, Jason Daniel, John Perry (Estella) Daniel and Lloyd Lee Daniel all of Chatsworth, GA.; two sisters, Betty Jo Self of Ringgold, GA., and Sara Hamilton of East Ridge, TN.; two brothers, Wayne Watkins and Randall Watkins both of Ringgold, GA.; three grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services: 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 18, 2017 in the funeral home chapel.

Interment: Salem Baptist Church cemetery.

Visitation: 4-8 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Jean Ellis Layne, 83 of Fort Oglethorpe, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, October 13, 2017.

Martha McClure Irwin Rhodes, 81, Phenix City, Ala.

Martha McClure Irwin Rhodes, 81, of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away Friday October 13, 2017.

A native of Ringgold, Georgia, she has lived in Phenix City for the past 6 years.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Willie B. Rhodes; second husband, Jewell L. Irwin; parents, Ira and Lillie Stapp McClure; and sister, Manton Brown.

She is survived by her children, Sue Harmon of Roanoke, AL, Jackie Rhodes of Ringgold, GA., James Rhodes of Ringgold, GA., Maxine Rhodes of Phenix City, AL., Charlean Rhodes of Rossville, GA., and Samuel M. Rhodes Sr. of Fortson, GA.; sister Johnie Mitchel of Trion, GA.; 18 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services: 3:00 P.M. Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Anderson Cemetery.

Visitation: Thursday from 11:30 A.M. – 2:30 P.M. at the funeral home.

Ernesteen Templeton, 81, LaFayette, Ga.

Mrs. Ernesteen Templeton 81 of LaFayette went home to be with her Lord Tuesday October 10, 2017.

Mrs. Templeton was born in Kentucky to Willie and Essie Prince, she was a homemaker, Ernesteen lived in the area all of her life and was of the Christian faith. Mrs. Templeton is preceded in death by her parents Willie and Essie Prince, husband; Robert Luther Templeton, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

Survivors include children; Wayne (Lecia) Templeton, Vickie (Terry) Abbott, and Roger (Roxanne) Templeton; grandchildren, Vicki Beard, Misty Boggs, Billy Richardson, Jerome Templeton, Eric Templeton, Rebecca Templeton, Bailey Templeton and Christopher; 10 great- grandchildren, 3 brothers, 4 sisters and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Templeton: Friday October 13, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in the LaFayette City Cemetery following the service.

Visitation: Thursday from 5pm until 8 pm at the funeral home.

Melba Jean Pack Smith, 79, Chattanooga, Tenn.

Melba Jean Pack Smith, 79 of Chattanooga went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 14, 2017.

She was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga & North Georgia areas and was of the Baptist faith. She was employed with Chattanooga Orthopedic Clinic as an X-Ray Technician for more than 20 years and was a loving and devoted sister, wife and mother who will be truly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Monroe & Ozeal Davis Pack; brother, Allen Pack; 1st husband, Chester Stailey and 2nd husband, Billy Ray Smith.

Survivors include her son, Todd Stailey of Whitwell, TN; sister & brother-in-law, Juanelle & Ralph Eaves of Ringgold, GA and numerous extended friends and family.

Graveside services: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 18, 2017 in the Lakewood West Memory Gardens with Bro. Nick Forshee officiating.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home. In Honor of Mrs. Smith’s request the family is just following thru with her wishes to have the simple graveside service only.

Frances Elizabeth Cunningham Turley, 87, Chattanooga, Tenn.

Frances Elizabeth Cunningham Turley, 87 of Chattanooga, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 16, 2017.

She had lived in the Chattanooga area for most of her life and was a member of Canaan Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing Bingo and spending time with her family & friends. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be truly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bewie Turley and brother, Walter Vaden Marcus.

Survivors include her children & spouses, Rosemary & (Jerry) Mahan of North Georgia, Gene Turley, Benny & (Diane) Turley and Bewie Lamar Turley; sister, Anna June Westmoreland all of Chattanooga, TN; 5 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services: 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 19, 2017 in the Greenwood Cemetery with Rev. Joe Gill officiating.

Sharon Denise Hargis, 35, Chattanooga, Tenn.

Sharon Denise Hargis, 35, of Chattanooga, passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at her residence.

Sharon was born in Chattanooga on February 21, 1982 and has resided in the East Lake Community for several years. She attended the Cowboy Church in Henagar, Alabama for two years and enjoyed fishing, taking care of her two boys, being in the outdoors, riding four wheelers and shooting guns.

She is preceded in death by her infant son, Jamey Hunter Conley, grandparents, Lawrence and Jackie Morgan and her uncle, Roger Walker.

Survivors include her husband, Jamey Conley, sons, Aidan and Daylen Conley, mother, Karen Delaney Carter, step-father, Dale Michaels, father, William Edward Hargis, brothers, Donnie Blakemore, Christopher Hargis, sister, Chasta Cagle, step-brother, Chris Michaels, step-sister, Karen Michaels.

Funeral services: 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 in the South Crest Chapel with Wormy Wiseman officiating.

Elizabeth Imogene "Jean" Orr, 89, Lakeview Community

Elizabeth Imogene "Jean" Orr, 89 of the Lakeview Community passed away Saturday, October 14, 2017 at her son’s home in Dacula, GA where she had lived for the past 14 years.

Mrs. Orr loved animals having raised Pekingese dogs and also having several pet monkeys over the years. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens and she had artistic ability working with ceramics and painting dolls. Jean was also known for her patience and care while she took great care of her mother-in-law, Lillian Orr, for several years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence C. Orr, Jr.; and brothers, John Arnold and Frank Fischel.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Jerri Lynn Orr of Dacula, GA; nephew, Todd Fischel; nieces, Falecia Fischel, Teresa Graham, and Darlene Arnold; and two step-grandchildren, Joshua and Samir Janjua.
