James F. Lowe Sr., 97, Ringgold, Ga.

James F. Lowe Sr., a man of Godly integrity, age 97, of Ringgold, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, October 8, 2017.

He was a member of Graysville United Methodist Church. In his early years, he trained at the Frye Institute and proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was Mr. Tennessee for three years in a row, while he attended college, and was Southeastern Champion for Bodybuilding for one year. He married his late wife, Jean Lowe in 1949 and retired as President of the Chattanooga Goodwill Industries at age 66.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Harriet Lowe; brothers, Paul and Joe Lowe.

He is survived by his children, Renee Mallory, Althea Lowe, James, Jr. Lowe, Robert Lowe; grandchildren, James, Mitzi, Michael, Niki, Chris, Jessica, Jimmy III; ten great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services: 12:30 PM Monday, October 16, 2017 in the chapel with Chaplain Kevin Becker officiating.

Burial: Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Visitation: Sunday, October 15, 2017 from 1:00 PM – 8:00 PM and Monday until the service time.

James Edward "Jimmy" Simpson, 78, Chattanooga, Tenn.

James Edward "Jimmy" Simpson, 78 of Chattanooga passed away Monday, October 9, 2017.

He was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area and was of the Catholic faith.

Survivors include numerous cousins and extended family & friends.

Graveside services: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at the Lakewood East Memory Gardens.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Golden Lowe, 89, East Ridge, Tenn.

Golden Lowe, 89, of East Ridge, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 9, 2017 in a local health care facility.

Mrs. Lowe was born on November 27, 1927 to the late George and Mary Kay and has been a resident of East Ridge for several years. She was a charter member of the former Hughes Avenue Baptist Church in East Ridge and retired from Windridge Apartments in Chattanooga where she served as Assistant Manager. Golden deeply loved her family and friends which also showed her devoted faith to Christ. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her loving husband, T.R. Lowe, brothers, Ernest & Paul Kay, and sisters, Eva Mae Thompson & Pauline Thompson.

Survivors include her sons, Terry Lowe, Bruce (Marylynn) Lowe, & Mary (Charles) Quarles; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces & nephews.

Funeral services: Wednesday, October 11th at 7:00 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Rev. Craig Westbrook & Andrew Lowe officiating.

Graveside service: Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.

Edna Whitley, 74, Flintstone, Ga.

Edna Whitley, 74, of Flintstone, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at her residence.

Mrs. Whitley was born on September 18, 1943 to the late Joseph and Noelie Marchand Rushing. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, painting art, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, John Whitley Sr.; son, John Whitley Jr.; sisters, Carol Stevens and Nelda Rae (Richard) Clousing. Brothers, Bobby Joe (Carol) Rushing and Joey Rushing; stepbrother, Dempsey Edmonston. 3 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services: 11am Wednesday, October 11, 2017 in the chapel of Lane Funeral Home South Crest Chapel.

Marvin Bryan, 74, Flintstone, Ga.

Marvin Bryan, 74, of Flintstone, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at his residence.

Mr. Bryan was born in Bell Buckle, Tennessee on September 11, 1943 to the late David J. and Mary Frances Bryan and has resided in the Flintstone community for several years. Mr. Bryan retired from the United States Marine Corp as a Master Sergeant following 20 years of service from 1961 until 1981 and was also deployed to Vietnam, where he received several commendations. Following his military career, he also worked the United States Department of Agriculture for 20 years as a property manager. He loved the outdoors and enjoying his retirement. He was Baptist by faith and was a member of Peavine Baptist Church in Rock Spring.

Survivors include his sons, Marty C. Bryan, East Ridge, Joshua Bryan, Flintstone, and daughter, Morgan (Jesse) Bryan Taylor, Chickamauga, Phoebe Bryan, Tullahoma, grandson, Jacob Bryan, Murfreesboro, brothers, James D. (Bonita) Bryan, Chickamauga and Bobby G. Bryan, Atlanta, sister, Margie (John) Lively, Tiftonia, several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services: 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Chattanooga National Cemetery. Military honors will be observed.
