Catherine Mary Warden Walker, 89, LaFayette, Ga.

Catherine Mary Warden Walker age 89, of LaFayette, GA passed away Sunday – November 12, 2017.

She was born in New Port, Kentucky and had resided in Knoxville and Maryville, TN before moving to LaFayette, Georgia. She was a former employee of Carron Mills in LaFayette, GA. She was a member of Everett Baptist Church in Maryville, TN. She enjoyed working jig-saw puzzles as a past time.

She is preceded in death by her husband: Alvin Edward Walker, daughter: Diana Kay Walker, brother: William James Warden, grandson: Alvin Edward Walker and granddaughter: Lisa Ann Walker.

She is survived by her son: James Barren Walker Sr., of LaFayette, GA, sister: Thelma Ryan of Knoxville, TN, Daniel Warden of Los Angeles, CA, grandchildren: James Barren (Jennifer) Walker Jr., Jason S. (Sabrina) Walker, Kimberly Gail (Fred) Currie, nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside service: Grandview Cemetery in Maryville, TN.

Edward Lawayne Simpson, 51, Rossville, Ga.

Edward Lawayne Simpson, 51 of Rossville passed away Friday, November 10, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He had lived in the North Georgia area for most of his life and was the Owner & Operator of Simpson & Son Asphalt Company for several years. He enjoyed being outside, working in the yard, fishing, boating or camping and just being with his family & friends was what made him happy. He enjoyed southern rock and country music and was a loving and devoted brother, husband, father & grandfather who will be truly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Simpson and Trudy Rathbun.

Those that are left to cherish his memories are his wife & mother of his 3 oldest children, Vonda Brown; longtime girlfriend, Carla Haskins; children, Amber Simpson, Jonathan Simpson, Melissa Simpson and Gage Simpson; sisters, Carla Johnson and Becky Smith; brothers, Brian & (Tonya) Evans and Jason & (Shannon) Ellis; 8 grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family & friends.

Celebration of life service: 7:30 p.m. Thursday, November 16, 2017 in the funeral home parlor.

Dorothy Dean Broom Summey, 82, East Ridge, Tenn.

Dorothy Dean Broom Summey, 82 of East Ridge, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 12, 2017.

She was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga & North Georgia areas and was of the Church of God faith. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be truly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Summey; two sons, Larry & Jim Summey and grandson, Jim Summey.

Survivors include her children, Linda McKissick of Rossville, GA, Talley (Betty) Summey of East Ridge, TN, Elaine (Roy) Cope of Ringgold, GA, Ted (Ann) Summey of Chattanooga, TN, Tim (Tammy) Summey of Chickamauga, GA and Faye (Dennis) Combs of Rising Fawn, GA; 24 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family & friends.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of Alexian Brothers Pace Center and Healthcare Center at Standifer Place for their care and compassion for Mrs. Summey.

Funeral services: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2017 in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Minister Roy Cope officiating.

Burial: Lakewood South Memory Gardens.

Grady Harold Hix, 87, Trion, Ga.

Grady Harold Hix age 87 , of Trion, GA passed away Tuesday – November 14, 2017.

He was born in Chattanooga, TN to the late Luther and Effie Eva Goins Hix. He had been a resident of Trion since 1974 where he was the co-owner of H&H Scrap Metal. He enjoyed playing bingo, fishing, riding motorcycles and collecting coins.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife: Virginia Adaline Hix, daughters: Deborah Kelsoe, Sheila Guffey, sisters: Marvarine Holdaway, Kathleen Shields, brothers: Frank Hix and Raymond Hix.

He is survived by his children: Pamela (Terry) Glover of Ringgold, GA, Patricia Hix, Teresa (Allen) Hill all of LaFayette, GA, Helen (Robert) Hill of Trion, GA, Grady (Amanda) Hix of LaFayette, GA, eighteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Wednesday from 2:00 pm - 9:00 pm and Thursday morning until the funeral.

Funeral services: 1:00 pm in the chapel on Thursday – November 16, 2017 with Reverend Justin Kelsoe officiating.

Burial: LaFayette City Cemetery – LaFayette, Georgia.

Ilah Mae Miles, 79, Rossville, Ga.

Ilah Mae Miles, 79 of Rossville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, November 13, 2017.

She was born in Bellbrook, Ohio and had lived in Dayton, Ohio for many years. She had previously worked for Wright Patterson Air Force Base and Consolidated Freight Ways where she met her husband, and then moved to Rockwood, Tennessee in 1975 where she worked at Burlington Factory. They then moved to the East Ridge area in 1983 where she started working at Crown Transport and U.S. Express where she held multiple positions. She blessed many of her family members with quilts, blankets and many different homemade items which she loved doing. She was a truly loving and devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be truly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her loving husband of more than 51 years, Chester Miles, Sr.; children, Rochelle (Warren) Owens, Rhonda (Tim) Boyd, Randy McCain, Renee Younker, Todd (Melissa) Miles, Ruth (Joe) Davis, Chester (JoAnn) Miles, Jr., Starla (Bob) Kushmaul and Robert (Vanessa) Miles; brother, Butch (Jeannie) Humble; 17 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; best friend, Martha Hall and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family & friends.

The family wants to extend their gratitude for everyone who has helped with her care, special thanks to Sue Beaty and Dr. Siobhan Duff for their love and compassion for her over the last several years.

Funeral services: 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2017 in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Pastor Billy Christol officiating.

Burial: Noon on Friday, November 17, 2017 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Rockwood, TN.
