Leon Clark, 66, Chattanooga, Tenn.

Leon Clark, 66 of Chattanooga, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 23, 2017. He was raised in the Valley Head, Alabama area before moving to the Chattanooga area over 30 years ago. He was a member of North Georgia Worship Center in Wildwood and was employed with the City of Chattanooga as a Truck Driver for more than 17 years. He was an avid Alabama Football fan and loved riding motorcycles. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be truly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Doyle & Mary Clark; brother, Bobby Clark and daughter, Jennifer Clark Parker.

Survivors include his loving wife of more than 25 years, Donna Vaughn Clark; children, Teresa Clark, Christopher & Paige Clark and Caprice Gordy all of Chattanooga, TN and Vaughn Gordy of Rossville, GA; two brothers, Jerome Clark of Trenton, GA and Ralph Clark of Valley Head, AL; 8 grandchildren, Rikki Robertson, Leon "LJ" Whitfield, Heaven Clark, Teairra Clark, Deanna Clark, Adam Villanueva, Alexa Villanueva and Dacoda Gordy; 2 great grandchildren, Micah Robertson and Kylie Robertson and numerous extended family & friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 28, 2017 in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel. Burial will follow in the Anderson Memorial Gardens. Dorothy Louise Chambers Varnell, 88, Rossville, Ga.

Dorothy Louise Chambers Varnell, 88, of Rossville, Georgia passed away Saturday, December 23, 2017.

A lifelong resident of the Rossville area, she was a former employee of F.W. Woolworth, and a member of Newnan Springs United Methodist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Thomas Varnell; parents, Clifford Judd and Lela Sullivan Chambers; two brothers, Clifford Chambers and Robert "Bob" Chambers and grandson-in-law, Michael Roberts.

Dorothy is survived by three daughters, Connie Varnell of Rossville, GA., Kay (Lynn) Bennett of Jasper, TN., and Nancy (James) Shipley of Ooltewah, TN.; four grandchildren, Lola Roberts, Jennifer (Barry) Smith, Tracy (Heath) Hornsby, and Corey (Abby) Shipley; six great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services: 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 26, 2017 in the funeral home chapel with Chaplain Gregory Collins officiating.

Interment: Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Visitation: Tuesday from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank Amedysis Hospice of Dalton for all the loving care and compassion that they gave to Dorothy and the family during her illness.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Amedysis Hospice of Dalton.

James "Jim" Leroy Black, 68, Ringgold, Ga.

James "Jim" Leroy Black, 68, of Ringgold, Georgia passed away Friday, October 27, 2017.

A lifelong resident of the Ringgold area, he was a Veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in Vietnam and was a route owner with Flowers Bakery for 25 years. He was a member of the American Legion in Ringgold and was of the Baptist faith.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Helen Marie Dean Black.

He is survived by daughter, Melanie (Michael) Ahlschwede; son, Sgt. Benjamin R. (Emily) Black U.S.M.C.; sister, Nancy Gardner; two granddaughters; two nieces; three great nieces, and two great nephews.

Memorial services: 9:30 A.M. Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at the Chattanooga National cemetery.
