Edward Donald "Don" Donaldson, 74, Fort Oglethorpe, Ga.

Edward Donald "Don" Donaldson, 74, of Fort Oglethorpe passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at his residence.

He was a native of Ontario Canada and had lived in the Chattanooga and North Georgia area for over 25 years. He was a former member of Oakwood Baptist Church and was currently a member of The Gathering Church. Don was an accountant in the finance industry for many years, had worked in the Real Estate industry, and while living in Canada was a Mountain Police and a commercial airline pilot. His passions in life were boating and enjoying sports. Don was an avid TN Vol fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Aldeen Donaldson.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Carlene and Lee Hamilton of British Columbia; two grandsons, Travis and Bradley Hamilton; brother, Brian; sister, Diane; his companion, Andree Gendron; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial service: Sunday, January 21, 2018 at 2:00p.m. at The Gathering Church 2501 Pine Grove Rd, Ringgold, GA 30736 with Pastor Darrel Henry officiating.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Gathering Church in memory of Mr. Donaldson.

Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.

Verl Carr, 76, LaFayette, Ga.

Verl Carr, 76 of LaFayette went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at his residence with his loving family by his side.

Mr. Carr was born in Flint, Michigan on June 1, 1941, a son of the late Cecil and Linnie Borgman Carr. He lived in the North Georgia area for the past 12 years and was a member of the Ridge View Baptist Church. Verl was retired from General Motors after more than 30 years of service. He loved golfing, fishing, Braves baseball and going to flea markets.

He was preceded in death by a son, Donald Carr and brothers, Gene Carr, Chuck Carr and Howard Carr.

Survivors include his loving wife, Ruby H. Carr; sons, James (Michelle) Carr of Columbia, SC, Robert Lee Short III (adopted grandson) LaFayette, GA; daughters, Linda Caldwell, Bardstown, KY, Teresa Carpenter, Clarkston, MI, and Ceclin Spooner, Birch Run, MI; brother, Terry Lee Carr, Las Vegas, NV; sister, Elaine Wright, Flint, MI; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Private gathering of remembrance: At a later date in Michigan.

No visitation at the funeral home.
