Eloise Brookshire Lewis, Tunnel Hill, Ga.

Mrs. Eloise Brookshire Lewis, of Tunnel Hill, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday evening, December 5, 2017, at the home of her daughter in Cleveland, Tennessee.

Eloise was born July 9, 1930 in Murray County, Georgia, a daughter of the late Daniel Clay and Lillian Lois Brumbelow Brookshire. She was also preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, John Floyd "Fat" Lewis on March 19, 2011, her daughter, Jerrie Bramlett, sisters, Billy Satterfield and Grace Cranmore. Eloise was retried and was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. Eloise was a loving wife, mother and the best friend a person could have.

She is survived by her daughter and sons-in-law, Brenda and Ed Allison of Cleveland, TN, and Jimmy Bramlett of Ringgold, GA; brothers, Louie Brookshire and Archie Brookshire both of Dalton, GA; grandsons, Clay Headrick and Jon Headrick; great-grandchildren, Lane, Hagen, Tristan, Lily and Jamie Headrick; special nephew and niece Bruce and Kayanne Satterfield of Rocky Face, GA; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Earl Lewis and Jerry Lewis, Ruby and Kenneth Cooper, Charlotte and Joe Dickson, Janie Horton, Daisy and Fonz Demay all of Ringgold, GA: special friends, Ruth Rittenhouse, Mary Hawkins, Rev. Don Self and the Shadwick Family; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Eloise Brookshire Lewis: Friday, December 8, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Don Self and Reverend Billy Joe Cochran officiating.

She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at the Anderson Memorial Gardens in Ringgold, Georgia.

Pallbearers: Joe Dickson, Paul Cranmore, Jr., Jimmy Bramlett, Dewayne Nanney, Mike Holsomeback and Jerome Rittenhouse.

Visitation: At Ponders Melrose Chapel from 4:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Thursday and after 10:00 a.m. Friday until the service hour.

Betty Irene "Bett" Peeples, 90, Valdosta, Ga.

Betty Irene "Bett" Peeples, 90, of Valdosta, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at South Georgia Medical Center.

Daughter of the late Violet Sadie Shaffar and Joseph E. Thompson, Betty was born on July 28, 1927 in Waukegan, Illinois. Betty attended Pensacola Jr. College and Columbia University. She met and married Lloyd Chandler Peeples, Sr. and together they shared 71 years of marriage until Lloyd’s death in September of this year.

A mother of three, Betty sold real estate in Florida and worked as an Executive Secretary at the Contemporary at Walt Disney World. As the Director of Special Programs for a Central Florida nursing home, she began the "Adopt-A-Grandparent" Program for the residents. The Program won the Walt Disney Community Service Award. A member of First Baptist Church in Valdosta, Betty was a faithful church worker. She taught many Sunday school classes over the years.

Survivors are her sister, Norene Ledford of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin; her two daughters and a son in law, Toby P. Nickson of Monticello, Florida, Susan P. (Carl) Meece of O’Brien, Florida; her grandchildren, Lloyd C. (Candi) Peeples, III, Jon D. (Paige) Peeples, Meredith L. Luke, Kristin R. (Ben) Fecko and Lauren E. Meece; her great grandchildren, Lauren G. Peeples, Morgan R. Peeples, Lloyd C. Peeples, IV, Lilly D. Peeples, Charlie B. Fecko, and Violet E. Fecko; her great great granddaughter, Leah M. Gaiti. She is preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Chandler Peeples, Sr., her son, Lloyd Chandler Peeples, II, and her parents.

The family extends their gratitude to Betty’s caregivers, Marsha Holmes and Myra Davis.

Funeral services: Sunday, December 10, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church. Reverend Mack Weaver will officiate.

Committal: At Wellborn Cemetery, Wellborn, Florida.

Visitation: At the Carson McLane Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.
