Dr. Thomas "Butch" Cochran Jr., 71, Fortson, Ga.

Dr. Thomas "Butch" Cochran Jr., 71, of Fortson, GA died Friday, July 14, 2017.

Dr. Cochran was born September 6, 1945 in Chattanooga, TN, son of Jo Cobb Cochran and the late Thomas A. Cochran, Sr. Dr. Cochran received his BS degree from the University of Georgia in 1967 and completed his medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia in 1971. He continued his training with a surgical internship and three year surgical residency at Baylor University Hospital in Dallas, Texas. After completing a two year residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Dr. Cochran began practicing medicine in Columbus, Georgia in 1977. He was a board certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, and was on the staff of St. Francis Hospital, Columbus Regional and Doctors Hospital. Dr. Cochran has served on the board of directors of the Chattahoochee Council of Boy Scouts of America and served on the board of the St. Francis Hospital Foundation.

Outside of his medical practice, Dr. Cochran was an avid outdoorsman. He loved every aspect of hunting, fishing and enjoying God's creations. Also, Dr. Cochran loved to support the Columbus Cottonmouths, and was an active participant in the adult hockey league. Dr. Cochran loved being with his family and was an active member of First Baptist Church of Columbus.

Survivors include his sons, Christopher Cochran, Kevin Cochran and his wife, Julie, and his daughter, Kendall Cochran; his grandson, Case Cochran; his mother, Jo Cobb Cochran; his sister, Gaye Smith; his brother, Randy Cochran, and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

Service to celebrate his life: 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 20, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Columbus with Dr. Jimmy Elder officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Funeral Home, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA, 31907.

Visitation: One hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.

Boyd "Junior" Worley, 51, of Chattanooga passed away, July 20, 2017.

He was a member of the Baptist Faith.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Boyd Worley and Icy Morton; sister, Loretta Dempsey.

Survivors include his siblings, Judy Worley, Diane (Randy) Ledford, Rickey Barnhill; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Cindy Harris.

Funeral service: Tuesday, July 25th at 2 pm, in the Chapel.

Visitation: Monday, July 24th from 1-8 pm.

Lynette Abrams Morgan, 81 of Flintstone, Georgia went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 21, 2017.

She had lived in the North Georgia area for most of her life and attended Valley View Baptist Church. She was a loving and devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother & great grandmother who will be truly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph & Maggie Abrams; her loving husband of more than 56 years, Fred Morgan; sisters, Trudy Thomas and Irene Denton and 3 brothers, Wesley, Willie Joe and James Abrams.

Survivors include her children, Clifford & Donna Morgan of Chickamauga, GA, Brenda & Eddie Anderson and Peggy Morgan all of Flintstone, GA; brother, Milton & Evelyn Abrams of Steens, Mississippi; sisters, Frances Bell of Macon, Mississippi, Barbara Edmondson of Columbus, Mississippi and Donnie Nix of Clinton, Mississippi; 4 grandchildren, LaTisha Morgan, Daniel Anderson, Jonathan Morgan and Rachel & Will Brock; 4 great grandchildren, Autumn Morgan, Gabe Morgan, Michaella Morgan and Abigail Brock; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family & friends.

Funeral services: 11 a.m. Monday, July 23, 2017 in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Rev. Jeff Brown officiating.

Burial: Lakewood South Memory Gardens.
