Mary Ruth Ragland Greene, 67, Rossville

Mary Ruth Ragland Greene, 67, of Rossville, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 in a local hospital.

Mary was born in Henegar, Alabama on August 22, 1949, raised in Chattanooga, and had been a resident of Rossville for over 45 years. She was a member of Lakeview First Baptist Church and a former member of Ridgedale Baptist Church. Mary was a graduate of Central High School Class of 1967 as well as J. Rogers School of Hair Design in 1968, an avid University of Tennessee and Peyton Manning fan. Before becoming disabled, she enjoyed dancing, crafts, working in her yard and being with family and friends. Due to her health, she retired at age 58 from Barto, Hoss & Co. after 11 years, holding the position of Medical Billing Specialist and Coder. She had been a member of the American Academy of Professional Coders and American Association of Medical Assistants.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, R.W. (Rags) and Alpha Ragland, daughter, Susan Renae, maternal and paternal grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Survivors include brother and best buddy, Ernest "Ernie" Ragland, grandsons, Joshua "T.J.," her "Little Man" and his wife Mariah and Rickey Lee, great-grandson, Tristan (her "Little Man 2’), several cousins, numerous friends and her four legged baby Roxie.

It was Mary’s wish to thank her physicians, Michael Greer and Heath Giles for their professional and compassionate care and also to her Barto & Hoss "Family" of friends for all their financial assistance and prayers.

Mary Francine Perry, age 79, of Rock Spring passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2017.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wince "Dink" Brown and Minnie Belle Collins Brown; several sisters including her twin sister, Martha Gordy; and one brother.

She is survived by her husband, Randall Perry of Rock Spring; sister, Johnnie Ruth Stapp of Ringgold; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service: 2 p.m. Sunday, August 6, 2017 in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel.

Burial: Rock Spring Cemetery.

Brenda Faye Ball Wrape, 49, LaFayette

Brenda Faye Ball Wrape, age 49, of LaFayette passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2017.

She attended LaFayette First Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her father, Larry Ball; brother, Terry Ball; grandparents, Robert Crider and Christina Crider and Hobart and Willie Belle Ball.

She is survived by her daughter, Debra Wrape of LaFayette; son, Brian (Michelle) Ball of Chickamauga; grandchildren, Luke Ball; mother, Peggy Ball of Villanow; sisters, Martha Ball of Chatsworth and Sheena (David) English of Villanow; brother, Doug Ball of Villanow; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service: 11 a.m. Saturday August 5, 2017 in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel with Pastor Doug Douglas officiating.

Burial: White Cemetery.

Visitation: 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Flora Dianne (Ann) Fountain, Rock Spring

Flora Dianne (Ann) Fountain of Rock Spring passed away Monday, July 31, 2017.

She was born October 15, 1942 to Earl and Geraldine Carpenter Hewitt.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 18 years, John Douglas Fountain, Jr. on April 15, 1999.

She is survived by children: Malcolm (Polly) Pickard, Mark (Lynn) Pickard, Matthew (Crystal) Pickard, Kristy (Rodney) Fountain Parker, and Steven (Shona) Fountain and by grandchildren: Jason (Heather) Pickard, Shawn (Susan) Pickard, Shane Pickard, Sasha Carr, Amy Pickard, TJ Pickard, Forrest Pickard, Aaron Pickard, Chase Pickard, Douglas Pickard, Waylon Pickard, Desaray Pickard, Skyler Pickard, Maleaha Pickard, Cheyenne Parker, Greenlee Fountain and Emilee Fountain and by fourteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by brothers Gerry Hewitt, George Hewitt, and Marshall Hewitt and grandchildren Rylynn Pickard and Jeremy Wallin.

She is survived by sisters Linda Hewitt and Earline (Bubbles) Hewitt Garrett, brother Ronnie (Mary) Hewitt and sisters-in-law Mary Hewitt and Maryln Hewitt and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service: 2 p.m. Friday, August 4, 2017 in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel with Rev. W.C. Pence officiating.

Burial: LaFayette Memory Gardens.

Doyle Bryant Caheely, 84, LaFayette

Doyle Bryant Caheely, age 84, of LaFayette passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Due to his love for farming, Doyle left Barwick Mills after more than 20 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Mae Webb Caheely; parents, George and Ida Caheely; and brothers, Wilbur, Roy, and George A. "Shorty" Caheely.

He is survived by his daughter, Karen (Roger) Bradley; son, Dobra (Julie) Caheely all of LaFayette; grandchildren, Shallowa (C.J.) Cumbee, Tabitha Caheely, Celess (Cas) Stone, Meagan (Andrew) Smith, Keri Oats, Kristen Lee, and Garrett Bradley; great grandchildren, Knox Stamey, John Owen Cumbee, Kimber Cochran, and Cooper Smith; brothers, Donald Caheely and Joe (Renata) Caheely of LaFayette; aunt, Billie Bagley Loyd; sister-in-laws, Dot Caheely and Lucy Caheely both of LaFayette; brother-in-law, Jim Webb; and several nieces and nephews.

Rev. William Carl Woody Jr., Trion

Rev. William Carl Woody Jr., of Trion passed away on Friday, July 28, 2017 at Redmond Hospital. Born on December 14, 1931 he was the son of the late William C. and Alma Conn Woody. Rev. Woody was a Baptist minister for approximately 50 years pastoring and interim pastor for churches in Walker County including Harmony Baptist Church and Old Way Baptist Church. He was a member of Grace Baptist Tabernacle.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Frances Louise Woody; brother, James Woody; and sister, Annie Ruth Wilson.

Survivors include daughter, Glenda (Gary) Wells; sister, Etta (Fred) Greene; grandchildren, David (Brenda) Wells, Philip (Angie) Wells, Stephanie (Scott) Spears, and Jonathan Wells; great grandchildren, Aaron Wells, Autumn Wells, Christian Wells, Isaac Spears, Eli Spears, Jace Wells, and Gracie Spears.

Funeral service: 2 p.m. Monday, July 31, 2017 in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel with Pastors Gary Wells, Shane Cloud, and A.C. Durham officiating.

Interment: Littlejohn Cemetery.

Shirley Elaine Engle, 60, Chickamauga

Shirley Elaine Engle, 60 of Chickamauga, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 30, 2017.

She had lived in the North Georgia area for most of her life and was of the Christian faith. She was employed with Syntec in LaFayette for several years and was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who will be truly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her father, Mack Dean and son, Gerald Eugene Morris.

Survivors include her mother, Eunice Lavada Dean; children & spouses, Kenneth & (Jennifer) Dean; Edward Eugene & (Carrie) Morris and Mindy Ann Dean all of Walker County, GA; brothers, Tommy Dean of Fort Oglethorpe, GA and Mark Dean of Chickamauga, GA; 5 grandchildren, Kaitlyn Lavada Dean, Haley Brooke Morris, Aubrey Shea Morris, Kalee Mae Vess and Ashley Brianna Fritts; numerous extended family & friends.

Memorial services: 8:00 p.m. Saturday, August 5, 2017 in the funeral home parlor.

Visitation: From 5:00 p.m. until the time of service.
