Tonya Moore, director of the Catoosa County Elections & Registration Department, received this month’s STAR (Special Thanks and Recognition) Award during the April 19 county commission meeting.

Since becoming director in 2009, Moore has been responsible for all aspects of voter registration for more than 40,000 county residents, following voter and election laws, qualifying candidates, collecting required campaign reports from local candidates, handling absentee and advance in-person voting, assisting the county Board of Elections and troubleshooting on election day.

In presenting the award, County Manager Jim Walker noted Moore always acts in a professional manner and her leadership recently was highlighted during relocation of her department from the annex adjacent the county courthouse to Freedom Hall, the former nutrition center adjacent Fire Station No.1, while simultaneously preparing ballots for the upcoming primary election.
