A LaFayette man led deputies on a high-speed motorcycle chase.

According to Walker County Sheriff's Department reports:

On Wednesday, Sept. 27, around 2:25 a.m., a deputy observed 39-year-old Eddie Shane Mitchell pull out of the America's Best Inn on North Main Street in LaFayette at a high rate of speed.

Mitchell was weaving in and out of the fast lane and turning lane and he reportedly cut off a commercial vehicle.

Mitchell's speed reportedly reached 70 mph and he eventually lost control of his motorcycle.

The deputy removed a .380 pistol from a holster on Mitchell's waist. Mitchell was also in possession of a small bag of marijuana.

He was arrested and charged with 10 counts, including wreckless driving, DUI, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, no insurance, driving on a suspended license, and four felony counts of obstructing an officer.
