Dr. Laura Catherine Gowder and Mr. Andrew Myers Williams, IV, were united in marriage at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 26, 2013, at Grace Presbyterian Church in Blairsville, Ga. The Reverend Bill Gowder, uncle of the bride, officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. G. David Gowder, III. She is the granddaughter of Dr. George D. Gowder, Jr. and the late Martha Gowder, and the late Rev. Earl and Mrs. Ethel Gooch, all of Blairsville, Ga.
Laura is a 2004 graduate of Union County High School and a 2008 graduate of the University of Georgia. She received her M.D. degree from the Medical College of Georgia in 2012, and is currently a second-year resident in emergency medicine at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tenn.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew M. Williams, III. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew M. Williams, Jr. of Summerville, Ga., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Eugene McRae of LaFayette, Ga.
Laura chose her sisters, Sarah Wright and Rachel Gowder, to be her matron and maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Ashley Gunter, Erin Wood, and Courtney Stephens, all friends of the bride, and Abigail Williams, sister of the groom. Flower girl was Grace Wright, niece of the bride.
The groom is a 2003 graduate of Union County High School and a 2007 graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in agri-business. He is employed with United Community Bank, Inc. as a loan product manager.
Andrew's best man was his father, Andy Williams. Groomsmen were Jeremy McDonald, Joe Tolbert, Daniel Davenport, Brandon Coutu and Brad Gowder, all friends of the groom. Ushers were Matthew Olson, Adam McDaniel, Benjamin Boyd and Rowdy Francis, also friends of the groom. Ring bearer was Nolan Gooch, cousin of the bride.
The reception was held at the Ridges Resort in Hiawassee, Ga. After a honeymoon in St. Lucia, the couple is residing in Chattanooga, Tenn.
